Happy Fall, Book Mama Beauties!

‘Tis the busiest season in the publishing world and it feels like everyone I know is either topping the charts or getting book deals right now. Exciting times for authors everywhere! As I’ve mentioned several times in the last few months, I’ve been working my Book Mama booty off to get my memoir finished and ready to shop. What a blast. And at the same time, what a massive, all-consuming total time suck:) That’s art, baby. What else have we got to do, right? Ha:) At any rate…

THIS IS THE YEAR!

I’m writing today because I want you with me! This push feels so genuinely good that I want to share it with my tribe and help you reach your end-of-the-year goals, too. Whether you’re still standing at the starting gate, or huffing your way to the finish line, sucking air through word after word, sentence after sentence, putting every last shred of strength and will and energy you have into fulfilling the one thing that’s consumed your thoughts for YEARS, let’s share the aliveness of it. Assuming you still feel alive:). If not, we’ll breathe new life into you!

Here are two speedy ways we can accelerate your process:

1. A NEW, super-charged 4-month book proposal tele-course I’m teaching that starts October 23rd. Includes recently sold queries + proposal samples, a copy of Your Big Beautiful Book Plan (plus an updated 2.0 version we’re working furiously on and will send you as soon as it’s released), and a motivating/realistic schedule to keep you on track. Plus, 2 hours to use with me private for anything from Skype brainstorming, editing, writing or more!

2. A dreamy end-of-October Writing Retreat (just added). I’ve got one spot left for my Nov. 2nd retreat and am aching to go a week early to take advantage of the amazing weather and creative vibe of Carmel as I finish up my own book. I called the owner of the house I rent and it’s open! (Amazing, it’s almost never open last minute.) I’ve had loads of requests for 2016 dates and can’t choose them until I know what next year’s book deadlines look like. So, this is a way to maximize my time and finish up the year on a high of in-person collaboration which, if you know me, is my deal. I loves me some whip-smart, heart-full collaboration.

Not to mention, it’s crazy fun! This is not your grandmother’s stuffy literary retreat. I should warn you, as evidenced by last week’s Instagram post from one of our retreat goddesses of badassery, there’s almost always swearing involved. Here’s an example.

Here’s Potty Mouth Casey Erin last week with 3 of her Carmel sisters on Skype. They meet to keep each other accountable, gossip, and, I’m guessing, throw around a few F-Bombs. I should add that they adore their other two retreat “sisters” who weren’t available that day to shoot the shit. (Perhaps they were, um, I don’t know, like getting actual writing done that day?!)

Oh, and the reference to BWG in the post is The Beautiful Writers Group, where some of the ladies actually met virtually before hopping on planes to the West Coast to tackle each other in person in the driveway.

But it’s not all fun and games ‘ya know. I mean business. Just a few weeks ago, for instance, a publisher with her own imprint at one of the largest publishing houses in the world called me to ask to see my memoir. I said it wasn’t time, but I pitched her a recent Carmel gal instead, whom she met with in NYC last week! They had an hour love-fest meeting. (Okay, I take it back… that IS fun! The most fun.)

Okay. Time to get back to my writing. So looking forward to meeting you virtually and on Skype via the tele course (read all about it here), or in Carmel soon (watch the video here).

Until then, write on, beautiful!

Yours,

Linda
